Peter and the Secret of Rundoon

I promise that, sooner or later, I'll post other tidbits on this blog besides book reviews...that will be even more likely with the eminent arrival of the new Star Trek movie...but, for the time being...

Peter and the Secret of Rundoon (Peter and the Starcatchers, Book Three) Peter and the Secret of Rundoon by Dave Barry

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars
Well…I've finished the the third and, until October, the final installment in the Star Catchers series. It ties up a lot of loose ends left dangling from the first two installments, and really illustrates the care with which these stories were crafted. I would have never believed these books would have been half as good as they were. The adventure is exciting, the mysteries thrilling, the story compelling, and the ending extremely moving. I really cannot say enough about this series.

Peter and the Shadow Thieves

Peter and the Shadow Thieves (Peter and the Starcatchers, Book Two) Peter and the Shadow Thieves by Dave Barry

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars
An excellent book. These Peter Pan novels from David Barry continue to surprise an impress me. I went in with very low expectations, but so far the first two installments have been fantastic. There's humor for adults, much like the Harry Potter books...not that I can honestly say that these books are even close to JK Rowling's caliber, mind you. The stories are engaging and frequently very suspenseful. I highly recommend these if you are a Peter Pan or fantasy genre fan.

Peter and the Star Catchers

I recently discovered www.GoodReads.com, and this is my first attempt at linking a short review I posted there to this blog. Enjoy!

Peter and the Starcatchers Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars
An excellent book. "Peter and the Star Catchers," despite its somewhat cheesy title, far exceeded my expectations. Not quite a prequel to either the classic novel or the Disney cartoon, this story takes the best from both incarnations and spins its own continuity. It's a wonderful book, with a heartbreaking ending, and I enjoyed it far more than I anticipated. I can't wait to read the sequel.
I've always been a Peter Pan fan in general. This book strikes all the right chords. Dave Barry gets it.
